Yoshiko Fukukawa Strader was born August 1, 1941 in Fukushima, Japan; the daughter of Rinso and Notsu Fukukawa. Yoshiko was raised and received her education in Japan, graduating from high school in Fukushima. Yoshiko met a United States Naval Petty Officer, Zane Strader while he was Christmas shopping in Yokosuka, Japan in December of 1969. The couple was married on April 30, 1970 in Tokyo. They made their initial home in Japan and then moved in the later part of 1970 to the Philippines when Zane was transferred to Subic Bay Naval Station. In 1972, the couple relocated stateside to the Naval Air Station in Dallas, Texas for nearly three years. They then moved to the shipyard in Vallejo, California when Zane was stationed to shipboard duty there. In 1976, the couple returned to Yokosuka, Japan for the next ten years prior to moving to San Diego, California in 1986. Upon ZaneÃs retirement in 1991, he and Yoshiko moved to their current home in Jennings, Oklahoma. The couple had two children, Zane, II and Donna. Yoshiko dedicated her life to taking care of her husband and children. She was an excellent homemaker and cook and especially enjoyed her grandchildren. She raised peacocks for many years and could be seen walking around the streets of Jennings nearly everyday. She also enjoyed traveling and maintaining her flower garden. Yoshiko was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers. She is survived by her husband of forty-years, Zane of the home in Jennings; a son Zane, II and his wife, Sherry of Claremore, Oklahoma; a daughter, Donna and Aaron Gann of Jennings, Oklahoma; five grandchildren, Karina, Savanna, Aaron, Zane, Jr. and McKensie. Yoshiko passed away on Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at the Hillcrest Medical Center in Tulsa at the age of sixty-eight. A graveside service will be held at the Chapel at 2:00 Pm Friday, May 28, 2010 at the Jennings Cemetery with Pastor Larry Schiller officiating.
