Wilma Tennessee Griffith Williams Mitchell was born July 13, 1929 in Faulkner County, Arkansas. She was the daughter of Harmon W. and Mary R. (Bateman) Griffith. She was raised and attended school in Faulkner County graduating from high school there in 1947. Wilma was married to Albert Mitchel on December 23, 1966 in McAlester, Oklahoma. The couple moved frequently during the next five years as Mitch worked at various jobs in the heavy equipment business. In 1971, Mitch and Wilma moved to Cleveland, Oklahoma where they established their home. Wilma was a member of the Church of Christ. She was an active member of the American Legion auxiliary in Cleveland for many years. Albert preceded her in death on November 4, 2002. Wilma passed away on Monday, June 25, 2012 at the Cleveland Manor Nursing Home at the age of eighty-two. She is survived by her three children, Melva Borela of Sapello, New Mexico , Hubert Williams of the Phillilpines and Lyle Mitchell of Cleveland, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Albert; Wilma was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Juanita Leonard. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Following her wishes, her body was donated to the Anatomical Board of the State of Oklahoma through Oklahoma State University.
