William Turner

    William Haden (Bill) Turner, Jr, passed from this life to his heavenly home on Thursday evening, March 21, 2024, at the Cedar Ridge Senior Living Center in Broken Arrow.  Bill was born April 16, 1934, in Oilton, OK to William H. and Leota (Smith) Turner.  He was raised and received his education in Jennings, OK.  After high school, Bill was drafted into the US Army and was honorably discharged in November of 1958.  Bill made his home in Tulsa where he was a Tulsa firefighter, retiring in 1984 with the rank of Captain.  In 1968, he and the family moved to Jennings, OK.  Until entering the Cedar Ridge Senior Living Center, he had made his home in Cleveland for the past 25 years and was a member of Western Heights Baptist Church.  Bill was united in marriage to Joy E. Kline on December 31, 2000.  Bill was an avid bass fisherman and hunter, especially deer and quail.  He enjoyed golf and he and Joy loved wintering in south Texas and spending time in the summer in Colorado.

     Those who survive and hold many cherished memories are his wife – Joy; daughters – Candace Stevens and husband Gerald of Van Buren, Arkansas and Vickie Meek and husband Artie of Broken Arrow, OK.  Also surviving are grandchildren – Gabriel Stevens and wife Amanda, Mindie Campbell and husband Travis, Katie Tanner and husband Chase and Tiffanie Stephens and husband Nathan; as well as ten great grandchildren.  Bill was preceded in death by a wife Helena Turner, a grandchild Coeby Stevens and his parents William & Leota Turner.

     Graveside services will be held at the pavilion in the Jennings Cemetery, Jennings, OK at 1:00 PM on Friday, March 29, 2024.  Pastor Dan Bankston of Maranatha Assembly of God Church will officiate.  Flag folding and presentation honors will be accorded for Bill by the Tulsa Fire Department.
