William P. Ramsey

William Pershing Ramsey was born February 12, 1919 in Cleveland, Oklahoma to Fred and Mabel (Hanson) Ramsey. Bill grew up in Cleveland where he began elementary and later graduated from Cleveland High School with the Class of 1937. Bill later entered into the service of his country during World War II. While serving in the U.S. Army Bill was stationed in the Southern Pacific as a radio operator. Upon his honorable discharge Bill returned to Cleveland and enrolled at Oklahoma A & M College in Stillwater, Oklahoma. After a couple of years Mr. Ramsey accepted employment with Airco in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Airco then transferred Mr. Ramsey to Tyler, Texas and later to Houston, Texas where he continued to work until his retirement in the mid 1980ís as one of the bookkeepersí. In December of 2006, Mr. Ramsey returned to Tulsa to live closer to his family.

Bill was an avid collector of antiques especially paintings, furniture and bronze art. Mr. Ramsey also had a big heart helping charities and local churches in numerous different ways.

Mr. Ramsey passed away Wednesday, December 20, 2006, in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 87 years 10 months and 8 days. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers Dale, Bob and Jim.

Surviving are his sister in law, Ruth L. Ramsey of Glennpool, Oklahoma; nephew, Don E. Ramsey and his wife Dorma of Jenks, Oklahoma; four nieces, Nancy Batt and her husband Olaf of Glennpool, Oklahoma; Linda Norman and her husband Dale of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Patty Ramsey of San Antonio, Texas; Barbara Foose of Kansas City, Missouri and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm, Saturday, December 23, 2006 in the Woodland Cemetery Chapel with Rev. David Head officiating under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home, Inc.
