Funeral Services for Bill Mooney will be held Friday January 28, 2005 at 2:00 pm in the sanctuary of the Oak Hill Church on Keystone Lake with Rev. Harrel Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the Jennings Cemetery with Military Services provided by the United States Army from Ft. Sill, Oklahoma under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home, Inc.

William Edgar Mooney was born August 18, 1921 in Morrilton, Arkansas to Bill and Dicie (Kendricks) Mooney. As a young child Bill grew up and received his education in the Morrilton, Arkansas area. Bill worked on the local farms prior to his induction into the U.S. Army during World War II. While serving in the U.S. Army Bill served in the following theaters: Northern France, Central Europe, Ardennes, Rhineland as well as the famous battle on Normandy Beach. Bill was awarded Five Bronze Stars, the European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Medal with Three Overseas Bars for the previous campaigns as well as the Good Conduct Medal. Bill returned to the United States in 1945 and continued to remain in the military until his retirement in 1965 after 20 years of service to his country.

Bill was united in marriage to Willie Dee Holland in Westminster, Colorado on August 6, 1960. They continued to make the Denver, Colorado area their home until they moved to the Jennings, Oklahoma in 1975. Bill accepted employment at the Jennings School as a Janitor as well as the cafeteria cook. He later began driving the bus for several years. In July of 1993 Billís wife Willie passed away; he continued to reside in Jennings and on April 9, 1994 Bill was united in marriage to Maxine Dora Elizabeth in Terlton, Oklahoma. Bill and Maxine have continued to make Jennings there home.

Bill loved to do woodworking, small crafts, fishing, camping and hunting. He also kept busy repairing lawnmowers and bicycles for his friends and family. Bill was a faithful member of the Oak Hill Church on Keystone Lake and proud to have served his country for over 20 years.

Bill went to be with his Lord Tuesday morning January 25, 2005 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 83 years 5 months and 7 days. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Willie Dee, two children Robert and Pat as well as two brothers John and Richard.

Surviving are his loving wife Maxine of the home; children, Billy Mooney of California; Paul Mooney of Russellville, Arkansas; Sandra Mooney of Russellville, Arkansas; eleven step children; numerous grandchildren which include three grandsons Damon Mooney of Russellville, Arkansas; Robert Penland of Russellville, Arkansas; Gene Penland of Russellville, Arkansas; numerous great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
