William Douglas Montgomery, Jr. better known to his friends and family as Bill was born on November 8, 1950 in Muskogee, Oklahoma. He was the son of William Douglas, Sr. and Juanita Bernice (Webster) Montgomery. As a young boy Bill was raised in Roswell, New Mexico where he began his education. At the age of 10, Bill moved with family to Muskogee, Oklahoma where he completed his education graduating from Muskogee High School. After graduation Bill joined the United States Army and served two years in Vietnam. Upon his discharge Bill returned to Muskogee and was later united in marriage to Edna Janell (Allen) in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The couple established their initial home in Muskogee before moving to Tulsa and later making their home in Cleveland, Oklahoma. Bill worked as a meat cutter for many years. He worked at SantaFe Meat Packing while residing in Muskogee. During the time Bill lived in Tulsa and Cleveland he worked at Warehouse Market, IGA and lastly for Homeland for many years. Bill was an avid hunter until he was physically unable to go. He also loved to cook but most of all in life Bill enjoyed spending time with his family and granddaughter. Bill was also a gun collector for many years. After Bill retired you could often find him at the Hickory House drinking coffee in the mornings or tea in the afternoons. Bill passed away on Sunday, December 12, 2010 in Sand Springs, Oklahoma at the Oak Dale Manor at the age of 60 years one month and 4 days. Survivors include his wife, Janell of the home, one daughter Marsha Montgomery of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, one son Ken Montgomery of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, one sister Anna Lee Renfro of Roswell, New Mexico; one granddaughter RaeLynn Michelle Montgomery as well as a host of other relatives and friends that will mourn his passing. He was preceded in death by his father William Douglas Montgomery, Sr., mother Juanita Bernice Montgomery, one son Michael Shaun Montgomery as well as a sister Barbara Faye Carson. Chapel Services will be held 2:00 pm, Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at the Chapman-Black Funeral Home Chapel with Scott Case officiating. Private burial will be in the Woodland Cemetery under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
