Westena June McMillan, known as "Tena" to her family and friends, was born June 26, 1939 in McMinnville, Oregon to Richard J. McMillan Senior and Ruby "Betty" Barnette McMillan. She passed away on October 10, 2021 at the age of 82 at the Cimarron Pointe Care Center in Mannford, Oklahoma.
Her brother, Richard J. McMillan Junior was 8 years old when she was born. When she was old enough, he would carry her around on his hip. They were good pals to each other and he was the best big brother anybody could ever have.
Tena and her family moved back and forth from Oregon and Washington. Tena graduated from East High School in Bremerton, Washington in 1958 and then she and her family moved to Oklahoma. If it had been possible, Tena always wanted to move back to Washington. That was "home" to her.
She met and married Gerrald Teter on June 25, 1967.
Tena later in life met, Ernest Brogan which turned into a long lasting relationship. He would take her places and he enriched her life.
In the early years Tena was a volunteer for the Hospice of Green Country, Inc. and she worked at the Cleveland Manor Nursing Home.
Tena was a very outgoing "people" person. She loved going to Hickory House. She was able to go on several cruises when the opportunity came around. She also enjoyed going to the baseball games and seeing the fireworks at Driller Stadium in Tulsa, Ok.
Tena was a member of the First Christian Church in Cleveland where she sang in the choir. She also sang in the Cleveland Community Choir when they gathered for special occasions. When the Cleveland Community Theater was up and going she participated in several of the plays.
Tena was a member of several organizations, where she held several offices. She joined the Home Extension group Health and Happiness and when it disbanded she joined the Happy Homemakers HCE group in January of 1986. She received her 25 year pin from this group. Tena was instrumental in acquiring a building and clothes racks so she could take donations of clothing and distribute them to those that needed them. She called this "God's Closet." She was a member of the Angel Collectors Club. As well as the angels she also collected music boxes and dolls. She was a member of the Lasertoma International, an organization that helped the community. One example is that she helped several kids get scholarships for college. She also was a member of the Golden Triangle Garden Club. She also collected money at Christmas time for the Salvation Army.
Tena was preceded in death by her parents, Dick and Betty, sister-in-law Pat McMillan and her special friend, Ernest Brogan. She is survived by her brother, Dick and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Plus all the new friends she made while living at the Cimarron Pointe Care Center and last but not least, her dog, Molly.
