Jack McCalip, Jr.., a resident of Enid was born October 23, 1961 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Walton Leo Sr. and Norma Lee (Stice) McCalip. Jack was raised and received his education in Cleveland where he graduated high school in 1979. Through out high school Jack worked at the local diner KatieÃs as the cook after school. After graduation Jack accepted employment in Sand Springs as a caregiver at Hissom. Jack worked there for until the closure of the facility for over 12 years. Jack then moved to Enid where he gained employment with the Enid State School. Jack remained there for nearly 5 years. Jack was currently employed with Sears in Enid.
Jack was an avid Beanie Baby Collector as well as a member the Save the Dolphin Society. Jack loved listening to music performed by Elton John. He also had a knack for being able to name any song including the history that was being played. Jack passed away Friday, December 2, 2005 in Enid, Oklahoma at the age of 44 years 1 month and 9 days. He was preceded in death by his parents Jack, Sr. and Norma McCalip, grandparents Allie and Noah Andrew McCalip; Hattie and Dewey Stice, one sister Edna Fisher, numerous aunts, uncles and other relatives.
Surviving are his four sisters, Carol Dibben of Sand Springs, Oklahoma; Cathey Owen of Terlton, Oklahoma; Cheryl Tabor of Cleveland, Oklahoma; Kitty Swayze of Sand Springs, Oklahoma; one brother Ron Hamby of Chandler, Oklahoma; four nephews, Freddy Stice, Michael Hamby, Trey Kinsey, Joshua Owen, one great nephew Austin Stice and a host of other relatives and friends.
Memorial services will be held December 9, 2005 at 2:00 pm at Chapman-Black Chapel officiated by Willis Morgan. Interment will be held later in the Dixie-Bear Creek Cemetery.
