Virginia Lee Long, 79, longtime resident of Hallett, Oklahoma, passed away on Sunday evening January 4, 2009 at her home. She was born in Driftwood, Oklahoma on January 5, 1929 the daughter of Charles Allen and Hazel Maria (King) Wiggins. As a young girl Virginia received her education in Wichita, Kansas. On August 4, 1949 Virginia was united in marriage to the love of her life Otis Marion Long in the Hallett Christian Church. To this union there are four children Elaine, Bob, Martha and Mark. The couple raised their children in Hallett where she has continued to reside. Virginia loved to sew, crochet, quilt and tend to her flowers inside and outsider of her home. Virginia was a devoted Christian. She not only lived the Christian life she also wanted everyone including her family to know Jesus. Virginia never had anything bad to say about anyone and expected the same out of everyone else. Christmas and Thanksgiving were special times for Virginia. This time allowed her to cook everyoneís favorite things as well as being with her children, grandchildren and family that she adored. Virginia was a member of the Health and Happiness Extension group for over 20 years. She also sold Avon for several years as well as serving as the Town Clerk of Hallett. Survivors are her four children Bob Long and his wife Roberta of Hallett, Oklahoma, Elaine James and her husband Carl of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, Mark Long and his wife Janie of Hallett, Oklahoma, Marty Marszal and her husband John of Trinidad, Colorado, thirteen grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends that will mourn her passing. In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by her husband Otis Long in November of 2000, one brother Charles Wiggins, Jr., one sister Patricia Wiggins and a infant sister Vivian. Funeral services will be held 10:00 am Thursday, January 8, 2009 at the Terlton Baptist Church. Officiating will Rev Scott Watkins and assisted by Rev. Dale Gowdy. Burial will follow in the Bethany Cemetery in Hallett, Oklahoma under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home. Friends may share a memory with the family online at www.chapman-black.com.
