Services for Violet May Ridenour will be held 10:30 am Monday, May 18, 2015 at the Chapman-Black Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Head officiating. Private burial will be held in the Woodland Cemetery under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home. Friends may share a memory with the family online at www.chapman-black.com.

Violet was born on December 8, 1927 in Hominy, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of James Edward and Laura Ray (Mantooth) Rush. Violet began her education in Hominy where she later graduated with the Class of 1946. Following graduation Violet remained residing at home helping her family farm. On June 6, 1952, Violet was united in marriage to David L. Ridenour in Hominy, Oklahoma. Following their marriage the couple made their initial home for nearly seventeen years in the Bay area of California in Brisbane. Later the couple moved to Milpitas. In 1970, Violet and David returned to Oklahoma, making Cleveland their home.

Violet was an avid reader and Louis Lamoure was her favorite author. Violet fully enjoyed working outside and was one to never complain. She was also willing to share and always looked forward to attending the family reunions. Her favorite meal was chicken and noodle as well as chicken and dumplings.

Violet passed from this life on Thursday, May 14, 2015, at the Cleveland Manor Nursing Home at the age of 87 years, five months and six days.

Survivors are her daughter Frances Martin of Cleveland, Oklahoma; son David H. Ridenour of Cleveland, Oklahoma; three brothers Carl Rush of Lawton, Oklahoma, Lloyd Rush of Hutchinson, Kansas, James Rush of Leesville, Louisiana; two sisters Mary Goodson of Enid, Oklahoma, Joy Prewitt of Stroud, Oklahoma; uncle Rex Mantooth of Hominy, Oklahoma; two grandchildren Tracy Bean of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Joseph Monforte of Sand Springs, Oklahoma; two great grandchildren Marty and Conner Bean as well as numerous other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her father James Rush, mother Laura Rush, husband David Ridenour, brother J.B. Rush, sisters Dora Haen and Grace Looney.
