Violet Ann Thomas Quillin was born April 7, 1925 in Hominy, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of James Franklin and Mertie Ann (Galimore) Thomas. Violet was raised and attended school in Wynona, graduating from Wynona High School with the Class of 1944. Violet was married to Alfred Carl Quillin on May 19, 1943 in Wynona. The couple had three children, Terry, Carol and Carl. In 1956, Violet accepted a position working at the cafÈ in Wynona as a waitress. In 1966, Violet and Carl purchased the cafÈ and opened it under the name of Violet and CarlÃs CafÈ. The couple owned and operated the cafÈ side by side for nearly ten years. After selling the cafÈ in 1976, Violet continued to work there for many years. In 1984, Violet accepted a sales position at the Pioneer Store in Hominy where she continued to work until the store closing in 2005. In addition to her work schedule, Violet prided herself in providing a wonderful home for her family. She loved to cook and maintain her beautiful flower garden. She also enjoyed fishing when she could but mostly enjoyed the company of her children and grandchildren. She had her grandchildren and great-grandchildrenÃs pictures all over her home as she was extremely proud of each of them. Violet was an active member of the Victory Baptist Church in Pershing and she considered her church as one of her favorite places to be. In addition to her obvious love of the Lord, Violet is remembered by her family as a caring and very outgoing person who was happy and extremely generous. She never displayed or revealed that anything bothered her and was always thinking about how she could help others. She will also be remembered for her famous chicken and noodles. She will be missed tremendously by all who knew her and will remain forever in their hearts. Violet passed away on Monday, November 15, 2010 at the St. John Medical Center in Tulsa at the age of eighty five years. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Mertie Thomas; a son, Terry Quillin; four brothers, Harold, Lloyd, Thurman and Herman Thomas; and two sisters, Lola Stephens and Ruby Steele.
