Viola Fields, a resident of Cleveland, Oklahoma was born December 19, 1915, in Oneida, Texas. She was the daughter of Nancy LaVerne (Hatfield) King and Dennis Grady King. Viola passed away in Pawnee, Oklahoma; on February 10, 2015. She had celebrated 99 years as a wonderful daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to all who knew her.
Viola met Eddie B. Fields in 1938, in Wink, Texas. The couple was later united in marriage to Ed in Lovington, New Mexico on December 18, 1939. To this union there are two sons: Eddie B. Jr. and Dennis Grady Fields. They lived in Denver City, Texas until 1952. At that time they moved to Oklahoma and made Wynona their home, where they started their ranch. Viola was a Post Office Clerk for the U.S. Postal Service in Wynona, Oklahoma from May of 1958 till May of 1972. Viola received two awards for her work in the Wynona Schools; where she volunteered for over 36 years helping in any way she was needed.
The couple celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary before Ed passed away in March of 1993.
Viola remained on the family ranch for over 46 years before moving to Cleveland in 1998. She never missed any activity that was going on; volunteering for the Meals on Wheels as well as the food pantry. She has been an Eastern Star member for over 55 years. In 1940, Viola became a member of the First Baptist Church in Denver City, Texas. When she moved to Wynona she also moved her membership to the First Baptist Church in Wynona. In 1999, Viola transferred her membership to The First Baptist Church in Cleveland, Oklahoma.
Viola was preceded in death by her father, mother, husband, and son Eddie B. Fields, Jr., five sisters and six brothers.
Survived by her son; Dennis Grady and his wife Jan of Wynona, Oklahoma; grandchildren Eddie Jay Fields and his wife Christina of Wynona, Oklahoma, Mindy Mahaney and her husband Greg of Bristow, Oklahoma, Stacy Boothe and her husband Randy of Washington, Oklahoma, Jason Morris and his wife Carrie of Barnsdall, Oklahoma; great-great children Tailor, Jacie and Tristan Fields; Hayden and Grant Mahaney; Evan and Kate Boothe; and special friends Ron and Linda Wells.
Services are Friday, February 13, 2015 at 10:00 A.M., First Baptist Church in Cleveland, Oklahoma, Rev. Gregory J. Hall and Rev. David Head will be officiating. Interment is at A.J. Powell Memorial Cemetery in Hominy, Oklahoma.
