Victoria Lynn Carter, was born March 3, 1959 in Fairfax, Oklahoma to John and Virginia (Rice) Schroeder. Throughout VickyÃs childhood she moved to several different places as her father served his career in the United States Marine Corp.
In 1977, Vicky graduated high school at Broken Arrow High School and shortly thereafter moved to Cleveland. She accepted employment with Jay Byers as a legal assistant and worked in that capacity for several years. On April 21, 1979 Vicky was united in marriage to Alan Carter in Cleveland, Oklahoma. The couple made their home and raised their two children, Tiffany and Christopher in Cleveland In 1983, Vicky accepted employment as a mail sorter with the United States Postal Service in Tulsa and remained there until her retirement for medical reasons in 1996..
Vicky loved to garden, reading mystery novels, sports, auctions, garage sales and going to movies. Most of all Vicky loved spending time outside, with her family, grandkids and friends. Vicky was an active part of the Relay for Life in Cleveland. She was Chairman in 2004 and Co Chairman in 2005. Vicky was also a member of Western Heights Baptist Church.
Vicky passed away Sunday, May 28, 2006, in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 47 years 2 months and 25 days. She was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, paternal grandparents and father in law Alvie Carter.
Survived by her loving husband of over 27 years Alan Carter, of the home; two children, Tiffany Carter, of the home; Christopher Carter, of the home; two grandchildren, Keagan and Kylen Carter, of the home; parents, John and Virginia Schroeder of Wynona, Oklahoma; two brothers John Schroeder, Jr. of Enid, Oklahoma; Glenn Schroeder of Enid, Oklahoma; one sister, Cindy Thomas of Claremore, Oklahoma; mother in law, Opal Carter of Cleveland, Oklahoma; three nieces as well as numerous other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Thursday June 1, 2006 at 2:00 pm in the Sanctuary of the Western Heights Baptist Church officiating will be Rev. David Head. Burial will be at the Woodland Cemetery under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home, Inc.
