Vicki Mccabe

Vicki Diane (Bowers) McCabe died early Wednesday morning in Oklahoma City after courageously battling a long illness. Vicki was born October 18, 1955, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, the youngest of four children born to Loyd and Mildred Bowers. She graduated from Cleveland High School and married her high school sweetheart Ronald McCabe a few months later on September 15, 1973. They eventually settled in Blackwell, Oklahoma, where she was a loving stay-at-home mom to her two children and wife to her husband of nearly 38 years. After her children were grown she cared for her father in his final years and her mother in the years since. She valued her deep connection to God and was active in church throughout her life, most recently New Hope Fellowship in Sand Springs, Oklahoma. She loved to sing, performing frequently in church and with the Sweet Adelines, a barbershop singing group. She also sang bass in an award-winning quartet. A performer at heart, she also acted in several community plays, most notably in a starring role in the musical comedy Nunsense. She was a very active scouting mother, both for her son and daughter. She had many hobbies, including reading, painting, crossword puzzles, and collecting nativity scenes. Most of all, she enjoyed visiting with her numerous friends and family, always quick to laugh and spread her cheer. In recent years, she particularly loved spending time with her two young grandchildren who adored ìGrandma Vickiî. Vicki was preceded in death by her father, Loyd Charles ìBuckî Bowers, and her brother, Jerry Bowers. She is survived by her husband, Ronald McCabe, of the home; her son, Nicholas McCabe and his wife Rebecca of Pleasant Valley, Missouri; and daughter, Alisha McCabe of Pleasant Valley, Missouri. Additionally, she leaves behind two grandchildren, Riley and Logan McCabe of Pleasant Valley, Missouri; her mother, Mildred Bowers of the home; and her two brothers, Keith and Lisa Bowers of Terlton, Oklahoma, and Tom Bowers of Bixby, Oklahoma. She will be deeply missed by countless other friends and family.
