Vicki Jo Wheeler, former owner of H&R Block passed away on Sunday, May 8, 2016, in Jennings, Oklahoma at the age of 58 years old.
Vicki was born June 27, 1957, in Pawnee, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Robert George and Colleen Wray (Alsip) Dunlap. As a young girl Vicki was raised in the Jennings area and began attending school in Oilton. Vicki attended Oilton Schools until her junior year and moved with her family to Hominy where she graduated with the class of 1975. Following high school Vicki was united in marriage to Roger Wheeler, Sr. on November 20, 1976 in Hominy. The two established their initial home in Hominy. They traveled to many places following the pipeline and always made Hominy their main residence. Vicki later began working at the H&R Block in Hominy and soon purchased the franchise. Several years later Vicki also purchased the Pawnee, Cleveland and Mannford locations. Vicki worked as a H&R Block employee for over 34 years and an owner for over 30 years when she sold her final location in Cleveland, Oklahoma. Vicki resided in Hominy until 2013, when she moved to Cleveland.
Vicki loved to travel. She has been to Europe, Mexico and nearly every state in the union as well as Canada. She always loved the times her children were able to travel with her. Vicki also took several trips with Steve Gradski to Nova Scotia, Mexico and Sturgis. Vicki always made the yearly Bikers, Blues and BBQ event in Arkansas.
Vicki enjoyed cooking as well as making everyone’s favorite dessert. Vicki also made birthdays a special event for everyone. Inviting all their friends and family as well as making their favorite cake. Vicki would often help others out when they were in need and on numerous occasions many did not even know she was even helping out. Vicki loved to spend time at her grandkids events and would not miss them if she was able to attend. Vicki was a person always on the go and always enjoying life.
Vicki was a great inspiration to her family and children. Her kids remember how she would spend every evening reading to them before bedtime. Vicki always told her children to stick together not matter what because you only have one family. Vicki also inspired in her children “that if you want to do just go and do it.” Vicki will be truly missed and by her children and family that loved her dearly.
