Veva Nell Hamilton went to be with her Lord and Saviour on Sunday, November 23, 2008 at Cleveland Area Hospital at the age of 68. Veva was born February 3, 1940 in Sand Springs, Oklahoma the daughter of Buford and Cleopatra (Reid) Hollingshead. Veva was raised and began her education in Sand Springs. She later completed her education at Charles Page High School. On February 15, 1957, Veva was united in marriage to Thomas Morris Hamilton. The couple established their initial home in Sand Springs and soon moved to Durant in 1960. In 1968, Tom was transferred to Cleveland where they have continued to reside and raise their family. During the time in Cleveland Veva worked at Ben Franklins as well as the Cleveland School Cafeteria. She was also an independent sales consultant for Home Interior and Tupperware for many years. Mrs. Hamilton was a lady that loved to travel. She and Tom would often visit Colorado and most recently took a trip to Boston that had many memorable events. The holidays were special to Veva. Christmas and Thanksgiving were always held at her home with the whole family. Veva was also devoted to her Lord. She accepted him as her personal Lord and Saviour at the age of 13 and has been a member of the First Christian Church since 1970. Mrs. Hamilton took great pride in her family, especially her grandchildren. She would often talk about them and their achievements for hours if asked. Even in the times of her illness, Veva still had a sense of humor that would light up the room. Survivors are her husband Tom of the home, three children Julie Horine and her husband Craig, Lori Hamilton and Mikal Brown both of Cleveland, Oklahoma and Mark Hamilton and his wife Michelle of Collinsville, Oklahoma; six brothers Reid Hollingshead of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, Wayne Hollingshead of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, Joe Hollingshead of Keystone, Oklahoma, Jerry Hollingshead of Salina, Oklahoma, Gary Hollingshead of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Darrell Hollingshead of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, two sisters Judy Hughes of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Sue Sullivan of Sapulpa, Oklahoma; eight grandchildren Michelle and husband Brandon, Jake and wife Erica, Adam, Justin and wife Shannon, Lesley, Jared and wife Dori, Kaleb and Keenan, seven great grandchildren Madison, Hallie, Jaycie, Kaelea, Rowdy, Aiden and Avery as well as a host of other relatives and friends that mourn her passing. She was preceded in death by her parents. Services will be held 1:00 pm Wednesday, November 26, 2008 at the First Christian Church with Pastor David Logsdon officiating. Burial will follow in the Woodland Memorial Park Cemetery in Sand Springs, Oklahoma under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home, Inc.
