Tommy was born June 12, 1930 the son Arnold and Blanche (Boothe) Peterman. As a young boy, Tommy grew up in the Keystone area attending the Rigsby Grade School. He later began attending high school in Cleveland where he graduated with the Class of 1948. After high school, Tommy helped his family on the farm before gaining employment with C.E. Natco in West Tulsa. Tommy was united in marriage to Vonnie Floretta (Sutton) on February 23, 1952 in Huntsville, Arkansas. The couple established their initial home at Old Keystone. After the Keystone Lake was established they were forced to move to their current home. Tommy had worked for over 36 years at C.E. Natco when he retired on September 1, 1981. After his retirement Tommy still remained active helping his family in the glass business at American Glass. The couple was very active in the Sand Springs Pepper Steppers as well as a faithful member of the Keystone Baptist Church. The couple were delegates to the Northeastern Square Dance Association from 1990 till 2006 and Tommy continued serving until 2008. They were charter members of the Westport Senior Citizens Center. They enjoyed traveling and visiting places throughout the United States and Canada as well as Hawaii. Mr. Peterman enjoyed spending time outdoors, gardening, fishing as well as horses. He served on many boards, committees and was a Deacon at the Keystone Baptist Church for many years. Vonnie preceded him in death on November 6, 2006. Tommy Norman Peterman, Sr., a life long Cleveland area resident passed away Sunday, November 9, 2008 at the Cimarron Pointe Care Center in Mannford, Oklahoma at the age of 78. In addition to his parents Tommy was preceded in death by his wife Vonnie Floretta Peterman on November 6, 2006, one sister Juanita Collins, one brother Amyle A. Peterman, an infant sister, Arnolene and a daughter-in-law, Beverly Peterman. Survivors are his six children Tommy N. Peterman, Jr. of Burns Flats, Oklahoma, Jessie A. Peterman and his wife Rebecca of Keystone, Oklahoma, Norma F. Higgins and her husband Bob of Keystone, Oklahoma, Brenda L. Dyer and her husband Larry of Keystone, Oklahoma, Jackie D. Peterman and his wife Cindy of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, Mickeal R. Peterman and his wife Kristi of Tulsa, Oklahoma; one brother, Edwin Peterman of Keystone, Oklahoma, five sisters, Wilma Gray, Elnora Dawson, Lela Davis, Frankie Wallace and Armina Scott; seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Church services will be held 10:00 am Thursday, November 13, 2008 at the Keystone Baptist Church with Rev. Roger Riester officiating. Burial will follow at the Sinnett Cemetery in Keystone, Oklahoma under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home, Inc.
