Thomas Steven Wojcik, of Hominy, Oklahoma, passed from this life on Monday, August 18, 2014, in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 77 years, one month and five days. Tom was born July 13, 1937, in Detroit, Michigan. He was the son Steven Thomas and Freida (Kitzman) Wojcik. At the age of seven Tom moved with his family to Oklahoma. They later moved to Hominy, Oklahoma and Tom graduated from Hominy High School with the Class of 1954. Following graduation Tom enrolled in a military academy and following completion of the academy, Tom began his college career. On March 1, 1958, Tom was united in marriage to Julia Pauline Snipp. Beginning their life together in Hominy, Tom and Judy later moved to Colorado and later returned to Oklahoma before moving to Detroit. Tom attended and later graduated from Wayne State University in 1970, with a degree in education. In 1977, Tom and Judy returned to Oklahoma and he accepted a position with Dowell for a couple of years. Tom later chose to further his education at Oklahoma State University and completed his MasterÃs Degree in Agronomy in 1984. Tom began teaching in public schools and has taught classes in Hominy, Fairfax and completed his career at Wynona retiring in 2000. He was awarded Teacher of the Year in 1991, during his tenure at Wynona. Tom enjoyed hunting and fishing as his children were growing up; often going deer and pheasant hunting. Tom always enjoyed a good meal especially with his family and friends. Tom and Judy spent many days traveling and going on cruises. His favorite trip was the cruise to Alaska. Survivors are his wife, Judy of the home, three children Sheri Stewart and her husband Bill of Weatherford, Texas, Steve Wojcik and his wife Rhonda of Morrison, Oklahoma, Scott Wojcik and his wife Ali of Sacramento, California; three grandchildren Abby Timmerman and her husband Shaun of Aledo, Texas, Sage Wojcik of Tonkawa, Oklahoma, Jake Wojcik of Morrison, Oklahoma; two great grandchildren Dean and Sara Timmerman and a host of other relatives and friends that will mourn his passing. Tom was preceded in death by his parents. Church services will be held 10:00 am Friday, August 22, 2014, at the First United Methodist Church in Hominy, Oklahoma with Rev. David Mingus and Pastor Russ Hughes officiating. Burial will follow in the A.J. Powell Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
