Thomas Clifton Riley Foote, 84, of Cleveland, Oklahoma, passed from this life on Friday, February 9, 2018, in Cleveland, Oklahoma.
Tom was born on April 20, 1933, in Poteau, Oklahoma. He was the son of Edgar Bryon and Lavina Roden Foote. Tom began and attended school in Poteau. Following the completion of his education, Tom started helping his father provide for their family. Tom later joined the United States Marine Corp in November of 1952. He was initially at Camp Lejeune, California later being stationed at sea where he served the remainder of his enlistment. Upon his discharge in 1955, Tom returned to Tulsa, Oklahoma. During that time, he met Claudia Potter. The two were later joined in marriage on August 4, 1956, in Mingo, Oklahoma. Tom also gained employment as a welder at National Tank in West Tulsa. In 1968, Tom and Claudia moved to Cleveland where they raised their two children, Janell and Chris. Tom worked for over 31 years at C.E. Natco until the company closed its facilities in 1984. Tom then began working at Wal-Mart in Cleveland. He worked for over 17 years when he finally retired in 2002.
Tom always enjoyed helping others. He liked to go to the glass shop in town and help Mr. Napier. He loved children and could win them over by talking like Donald Duck. Tom and Claudia dressed up for many years as Mr. and Mrs. Clause which gave him great enjoyment. Tom always enjoyed pulling pranks on others no matter if he knew them or not. Tom was a member of both the Hebron Lodge #215 and Tulsa Scottish Rite for 50 years. Tom has been a Deacon and a member of The First Christian Church for many years.
Survivors are his wife, Claudia of the home; two children, Janell Cotton and her husband Jerry of Wills Point, Texas, Chris Foote and his wife Debra of Olathe, Kansas; three siblings, Shirley Crenshaw of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, Lavina Jones and her husband Dale of Catoosa, Oklahoma, David Foote and his wife Teresa of La Pine, Oregon, five grandchildren, Michelle and Everett House, Kristy and Alfred Torres, Thomas Foote and Nicole Baskin, Tabitha Foote, Trevor Foote; eight great-grandchildren, Trey and Garrett House, Jeremiah McLaughlin, Izabella Torres, LillyAna and Lane Baskin, Lexi and Sami Pickrell and numerous other friends and family. In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by five siblings; Louise Hanoch, Gene Foote, Pauline Harlow, Bill Foote and Bob Foote.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Monday at the First Christian Church with Pastor David Logsdon officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Cleveland, Oklahoma at 1:00 pm with honors provided by the Fifth District Rifle Team.
