Terry Leon Rogers

Terry Leon Rogers, a resident of Vinita was born May 7, 1957, in Houston, Texas to Lee Quintin and Wilma Louise (Baker) Rogers. As a young child Terry grew up in the Springdale, Arkansas area until the sixth grade. The family then moved to Mena, Arkansas. Terry finished his high school education at Boonville, Arkansas. Terry soon enrolled at Vo Tech and learned mechanical repair. After completion of his training at Vo Tech, Terry began working at a local print shop. He later accepted employment working as a carpenter. Terry continued working as a carpenter for several years in the Boonville area. In the mid 1990ís Terry traveled to Detroit, Michigan to continue his trade. While working in Detroit Terry had an accident that would hinder him from working ever again.

After the accident Terry began making crafts. The crafts would consist of crystal and leather jewelry as well as art formed out of wire. During this time it gave Terry many hours to do what he loved most; playing his guitar, fishing and being with his grandchildren and daughter.

Terry passed away Friday, June 16, 2006 in Vinita, Oklahoma at the age of 49 years 1 month and 8 days. He was preceded in death by his father Lee, paternal and maternal grandparents.

Surviving are his parents, Louise and Eddie Johns of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; daughter, Cassondra Rogers of Vinita, Oklahoma; two sisters, Deby and husband Jim Walker of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; Brenda and husband Mike Davenport of Ashland, Virginia; first granddaughter, Ainslie Rogers of Vinita, Oklahoma; five other grandchildren Daylon, Austin, Montanna, Kyrestyn, and D.J. as well as many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 20, 2006 at 2:00 pm in the Sanctuary of the First Assembly of God Church. Officiating will be Rev. Dan Edens. Private burial will be at Woodland Cemetery under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home, Inc.
