Theodore Henry Cox was born August 24, 1928 in Osage County, Oklahoma to Nell (Prater) Tilley and Clarence Cox. T.H. grew up West of Hominy attending the Enterprise School until the 8th grade. He then attended school in Hominy where he later graduated. T.H. entered the United States Army during the Korean Conflict until he was honorably discharged. He returned to the Hominy area and was united in marriage to Mary E. (Cody) on February 9, 1954 in Fairfax, Oklahoma. T.H. began working for his father in the ranching business as well as helping him pump wells. This is where T.H. got his start in the oil and ranching business. T.H. continued to ranch until his health required him to retire. He also pumped oil wells independently many years and for the past 16 years for Nadel and Gusman retiring after 40 years.
T.H. loved to bird hunt, fish; go to Hominy Buck Athletic Events and a very avid Buck Booster for many years. He also collected coins as well as a member of the VFW and the St. JosephÃs Catholic Church in Hominy.
T.H. passed away Wednesday, September 24, 2003 at Claremore, Oklahoma at the age of 75 years 1 month. He was preceded in death by his father and a brother Charles Johnny.
Survived by his loving wife, Mary, of the home; mother, Nell Tilley of Tulsa, Oklahoma; children, Maria Sue Biard and husband Joe of Houston, Texas and Cynthia Whitton and husband Jerry of Mannford, Oklahoma; sisters Bonita Lees of Henderson, Texas; Helen Deaver of Claremore, Oklahoma; three grandchildren, Marial Biard, Jared Biard, and Rachel Whitton as well as numerous other relatives and friends.
Rosary services will be held 7:00 pm Friday evening at the Chapman-Black Funeral Home Chapel in Cleveland with the funeral mass to be held Saturday afternoon at 2:00 pm September 27, 2003 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Hominy, Oklahoma with Father Bruce Brosnahan officiating. Burial will follow at A.J. Powell Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home, Inc.
Pallbearers will be Doyle Edwards, Phil Visconti, Steve Moles, Jim Hale, Danny Daniels, Todd Nance, Ben Prater-Honorary and Omar Storck-Honorary.
