Sybil Lea Place Clemens, a resident of Cleveland was born July 5, 1930 in Sand Springs, Oklahoma to Elisha and Jessie Mae (McAdory) Place. Sybil was raised and received her education in Sand Springs where she graduated from high school. Soon after her graduation Sybil joined the United States Marine Corp in 1952 serving in El Toro, California. Upon receiving an honorable discharge Sybil moved back to the Sand Springs area. On September 9, 1968 Sybil was united in marriage to Bob Joe Clemens in Tulsa. Sybil was employed with Fibercast Co. until 1972 when she left to pursue a career in the Petroleum and Trucking Industry. She retired from Wheeling Transport in 1987. Sybil has been a resident of Cleveland since 1984.
Sybil passed away September 4, 2003 in Cleveland, Oklahoma at the age of 73 years 1 month and 29 days.
Survived by her husband, Bob Clemens of the home; children, Arlie D. and wife Ha-Suk Clemens of Terlton, Oklahoma; Donald L. Clemens of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Marina Jo and husband Lee Smith of Haskell, Oklahoma; five grandchildren, three great grandchildren as well as a half-brother, Bill Place of Aurora, Colorado; half-sister Louise Cristiano of Orleans, Nebraska and numerous other relatives and friends.
Graveside services will be held Monday September 8, 2003 at 10:00 am in Sand Springs at the Woodland Memorial Cemetery. Officiating the services will be Chaplain Kayla Taylor. Services are under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home, Inc. of Cleveland, Oklahoma.
