Susan Shaeffer passed away in Norman, Oklahoma following a long battle with pancreatic cancer. Susan was born on September 25, 1954, in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Marie Zickefoose Shaeffer and Fred Shaeffer. Susan attended school in the old town of Keystone and graduated high school in Sand Springs. Following high school, Susan attended Tulsa University where she earned her bachelor’s degree in special education in 1978. Susan was a member of the Keystone General Baptist Church.
Susan was a symbol of strength for the Shaeffer family. Her body faced many physical struggles throughout her lifetime, however, none of this kept her for completing her degree or being the best daughter, niece, aunt, and cousin anyone could ask for.
Susan was smart, witty, and always quick to come back with sarcasm that kept everyone in the room on their feet. Susan had an amazing memory and a thoughtful spirit. She could recall endless facts and events, names and even birthdays of people she may have only briefly known. Often she would call close friends and relatives on their birthdays just to personally let them know she cared. Susan was loved by all and will be greatly missed. Her family and friends are comforted to know that Susan is in a better place, and is no longer in pain.
Susan is preceded in death by her father, Fred Shaeffer, and her brother Fred J. Shaeffer. Susan is survived by her mother Marie Shaeffer; Aunt Grace and Uncle Sam Zickefoose; sister-in-law Cindi Warner and her husband Eric; Nephews; Joe Shaeffer and wife Chelsea and their two children August and Sadie; Freddie Shaeffer, Mac Shaeffer, and Ben Shaeffer; niece Crystal Harkness and husband Jonathan and their three kids Cody, Jade, and Miah; Cousins; Cheryl Fraizer, Lisa Provenzano and fiancé Bill Reilly, Steve and Beverly Bailey, Helen Mills, Carol Nigh, Charles Swart and Gene Abbet.
Funeral Services will be Saturday, July 8, 2017 – 2:00 pm at Chapman-Black Chapel in Cleveland, Oklahoma with interment to follow at Sinnett Memorial Cemetery.
