Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 17, 2003 at 10:00 am in the Sanctuary of the Oak Hill Church on Keystone Lake officiating the services will be Rev. Harrel Jones. Burial will follow at Dixie-Bear Creek Cemetery in Cleveland, Oklahoma under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home, Inc.

Silas Hershell Reed, life long resident of Mannford was born November 20, 1933 in Mannford, Oklahoma to Othaniel and Emma Sue (Carson) Reed. Silas was raised and began his education in Mannford. He attended the 9th grade at Webster and graduated from Keystone. After high school Silas joined the United States Navy. Shortly after he returned from the Navy Silas was united in marriage to Jacquie Charlene (Jackson) on December 24, 1954 in Keystone, Oklahoma and to this union there are four boys Danny, Doug, Deak and David. After Silas and Jacquie were married they remained in Keytone. In 1956 they moved to Berryhill. Silas and Jacquie later moved south of Cleveland to the Dixie area. Several years later they moved back to Keystone near the Hubbard and Bowen area. Then in 1962 they moved to their present home in Mannford. Silas retired from pipe fitting in 1998.

Silas loved to fish, work countless hours in his yard, play the fiddle, tend to his many bird houses, ride his bicycle for exercise and a avid fan of the University of Oklahoma. Silas was also a member of the Local 430 Union in Tulsa. Silas and Jacquie would attend their church Oak Hill Church on Keystone Lake every time the doors were open.

Silas passed away at his home June 13, 2003 at the age of 69 years 6 months and 23 days. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers Harvey and Bobby Reed.

Silas is survived by his wife, Jacquie of the home; four sons, Danny Hershell Reed and wife Deloris of Mannford, Oklahoma; Doug Reed and wife Kathy of Mannford, Oklahoma; Deak Reed and wife Karen of Tahlequah, Oklahoma and David Reed and wife Lea of Mannford, Oklahoma; sister, Helen Brooks of West Plains, Missouri and Wilda Tunstall of Berryhill, Oklahoma; six grandchildren, Doug, David, Danni, D.J., Channing and Ryan as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
