Shirley Ruth Clanton

Shirley Ruth Clanton, 65, of Cleveland, Oklahoma, passed away on Saturday, January 22, 2011 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the Hillcrest Medical Center. Shirley was born on August 24, 1945 in Hominy, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Morris A. and Hazel Ruth (Thompson) Trim. As a young girl Shirley was raised in Hominy, Oklahoma where she later graduated high school. Following graduation, Shirley went to work as a waitress at the Hominy Hotel. She later accepted employment at the Hominy Nursing Home where she worked for five years. Shirley was then introduced to Charley Clanton through a mutual friend. The couple was later united in marriage one year later on June 1, 1979. The couple had one daughter Charla Sue. Shirley was a faithful member of the Western Heights Baptist Church for many years. At the age 15, Shirley accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Saviour. Shirley loved her church family and especially loved to spend her time caring for her grandchildren. You could often find Shirley at the Wal-Mart Snack Bar visiting and drinking coffee. Recently with the new McDonaldís establishment she was a frequent visitor there drinking coffee. Survivors are her daughter, Charla Sue Albright of Cleveland, Oklahoma, three grandchildren, Kimberly, Kailey and Kelsey Albright, brother in law Bob Martin of Los Alamos, New Mexico as well as numerous other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. In addition to her parents Shirley was preceded in death by her husband Charles Clanton and two sisters Sue Martin and Rosa Lee Snow. Church services will be held 10:00 am, Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at Western Heights Baptist Church with Rev. David Head officiating. Burial will follow in the Woodland Cemetery under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home. Lovingly Submitted The Family
