Shirley Mae Owens passed from this life on April 3, 2025, at the age of 74 in Beggs, Oklahoma.
Shirley was born on February 5, 1951, in Hartville, Missouri, the daughter of William Henry and Anna Belle (Stephenson) Moore. Shirley grew up and attended school in Hartville, where she completed her education. On August 26, 1967, Shirley was united in marriage to the love of her life, Raymond Owens, in Kansas City, Kansas. Shirley and Raymond established their initial home in Kansas City, Kansas. They soon moved to San Diego, California, while Ray was in the U.S. Navy. They later returned to Kansas City and resided in Arizona, Colorado, Texas, and Florida. In the early 2000s, Shirley and Ray moved to Clinton, Arkansas, where she remained until she moved to Beggs, Oklahoma, to be closer to her daughter. Shirley always enjoyed family dinners and cooking a good meal for everyone. Shirley's grandkids were her everything. She especially loved the holidays. Shirley and Ray enjoyed taking trips on their motorcycle, especially to the casinos. Going to church with her daughter Sherry and listening to her spread the Gospel were always a wonderful time. During earlier times, Shirley, Laurie, and Michelle would go to the gym, followed by tanning. Memorable times were when she and Laurie would sing along with the radio. Following the death of Ray, Shirley would spend Sunday drives with Sherry and Kenny going to Daisy Queen or Mulan's. Shirly lived a life full of purpose and will be greatly missed by everyone who loved her.Survivors are her children Sherry Bright, Laurie Owens, and Michelle Owens; grandchildren, Quinton Hollon, Korrine Hollon, Kennedy Bright, Tyler Fowler, Trenton Fowler, Whitney Fowler, and Sydnie Owens; as well as several great grandchildren. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband Raymond Owens, parents William and Anna Moore, Brothers Don and Gene Fullington, Solan and Floyd Moore, and sister Pauline Moore.Chapman-Black Funeral Home will handle the arrangements.
