Shirley Marie Mayfield passed from this life on November 11, 2011 at the age of 80 years five months and 15 days. Shirley was born May 28, 1931 in Fall River, Kansas. She was the daughter of George Taylor, Sr. and Leota Pearl (Toon) Bohon. As a young girl Shirley was raised in Severy, Kansas where she began her education. In 1947, Shirley moved with her family to Burbank, Oklahoma where she graduated from high school with the Class of 1949. On May 4, 1950, Shirley was united in marriage to Elmer Loyd Mayfield, Jr. in Fairfax, Oklahoma. The couple made their initial home in Burbank where they raised their children. During her time in Burbank, Shirley worked for the Burbank Post Office, Munsingwear and various other sewing factories as well as the City Clerk for Burbank until she retired in 2004. Following the death of her husband in 2004, Shirley moved to Cleveland, Oklahoma to be closer to her children where she has continued to reside. Shirley was an avid reader. She would spend countless hours reading the Harlequin romance novels as well as any other books or periodicals. Shirley also loved to spend time in her garden and loved to take walks. Survivors are her five daughters Mona Mayo and husband Billy of Granby, Missouri, Rose Rhodes of Guthrie, Oklahoma, Jenny Voss and husband Ralph of Perry, Oklahoma, Jenna Brooke Hilbert and husband Bryan of Owasso, Oklahoma, Kathy Meade and husband Rocky of Terlton, Oklahoma; three brothers Hurley Bohon and wife Theresa of Ponca City, Oklahoma, Jackie Bohon and wife Zofia of Ponca City, Oklahoma, Donnie Bohon of Ponca City, Oklahoma; eighteen grandchildren and twenty one great grandchildren. Shiley was preceded in death by her father George Taylor Bohon, Sr., mother Leota Pearl Bohon, husband Elmer Loyd Mayfield, Jr., son Jimmy Jack Mayfield, two daughters Martha Lea Walker, Karen Lynn Weldon, sister Helen Rose Bohon and two brothers George Pearl Bohon, Jr. and Cecil Bohon. Graveside Services will be held 1:00 pm, Tuesday, November 15, 2011 at Burbank Cemetery with David Logsdon officiating. Burial will be in the Burbank Cemetery under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home of Cleveland, Oklahoma.
