Shirley was born in Coffeyville, Kansas on September 16, 1935. She was the daughter of Arlie Jackson and Goldie Marie (Longrear) Alexander. As a young child Shirley moved with her parents to the Jennings area. She began and finished her education in Jennings. Soon after High School, Shirley was united in marriage to J. B. Neely and moved to Kansas where she raised four of her children, Rickey, Susie, Debbey and LeeAnn. In 1965, Shirley returned to Jennings and soon united in marriage to the love of her life Rex Sneed on January 14, 1967 and to that union there is one daughter, Candi. The couple always considered Jennings their home but, has traveled to many places throughout the United States as well residing in Australia, Alaska, and Hawaii for a short time. In the mid to late 80Ãs, Shirley worked at the Hickory House and loved working there each and every day. She enjoyed waiting on people and providing service beyond expectations. Most of all Shirley loved being a homemaker and secretary for Rex for the majority of her life. Shirley loved helping people and volunteered at numerous places including helping prepare and deliver Meals on Wheels. She also had a passion for collecting Holstein figurines. Shirley spent many hours doing needle work. She made numerous table cloths, bed spreads and other small gift items for her family and friends. Shirley was also an excellent baker and wonderful candy maker. Shirley was very quick witted and funny always making everyone laugh. She was an awesome wife, mom and grandmother and loved each and everyone. Shirley passed away on January 4, 2014, in Drumright, Oklahoma at the age of 78 years, three months and nineteen days. Survivors are her loving husband Rex of the home, five children Rickey Neely of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Susie Cooks of Bristow, Oklahoma, Debbey Cope of Las Vegas, Nevada, LeeAnn Halvorson of Drumright, Oklahoma, Candi Tyler of Jennings, Oklahoma, one brother Jackie Alexander of Jennings, Oklahoma; seventeen grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren, her Yorkie Henry as well as numerous other relatives and friends that will mourn her passing. In addition to her parents Shirley was preceded in death by her two brothers Charles and Ronnie Alexander Services will be held 10:00 am Wednesday, January 8, 2014, at the Chapman-Black Funeral Home with Dave Kraft officiating. Burial will follow in the Lawson Cemetery in Yale, Oklahoma under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
