Shirley Ann Nance was born May 28, 1942 in Fort Monroe, Virginia. She was the daughter of Francis and Mary Louise Ziegler. Shirley moved frequently during her youth, attending many different schools as her father made his career in the United States Army.
While living in Fort Huachuca, Arizona with her family, Shirley met Bud Nance, Sr. and the couple was later married in Mannford, Oklahoma on August 9, 1958. The couple made their initial home in Mannford and raised six children, Buddy Lee, Jr., Carl Lee, Russell Lee, Johnny Lee, Starla Lee and Randy Lee.
Shirley prided herself in taking care of the family home, husband, children and grandchildren. She especially enjoyed having all the family together on weekends during the later years of her life. Her hobbies included arts and crafts of all kinds, working in the yard and flowers, especially red roses. She considered her greatest accomplishment as being a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister.
Shirley passed away on Monday, February 28, 2005 at her home near Mannford, Oklahoma at the age of sixty-two years and nine months. She was preceded in death by her parents and her son, Russell Lee Nance.
She is survived by her husband of forty seven years, Bud of the home; five children and their spouses, Buddy Lee, Jr. and Kim Nance of Mannford, Oklahoma, Carl Lee and Debra Nance of Mannford, Oklahoma, Johnny Lee and Ineta Nance of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, Starla Lee and Jimmy Rodanski of Sand Springs, Oklahoma and Randy Lee and Vickie Nance of Sand Springs, Oklahoma; daughter-in-law, Diane Nance of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, twenty grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; brother, Pete Ziegler of Denver, Colorado; and a sister, Patricia Gaines of California; numerous other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday, March 3, 2005 at the Oakhill Cemetery Chapel in Mannford, Oklahoma with Rev. Marcia Howland officiating. Burial will be at the Oakhill Cemetery under the direction of the Chapman-Black Funeral Home, Inc.
