Sheila Lynn Lay

Sheila Lynn Lay, of Prue, Oklahoma, passed away on August 7, 2017, at the age of 67.

Sheila was born January 25, 1950, in Las Vegas, Nevada. She was the daughter of Raymond and Norma Parker. As a young girl, Sheila grew up in the Las Vegas area until the age of 17. At a very young age, Sheila gave her heart to the Lord and served him with great love for many years. Sheila attended Wayland Baptist College. On December 22, 1970, Sheila married Billy Lay in Las Vegas Nevada at Red Rock Baptist Church. Then they moved to Shawnee Oklahoma and completed her Education at Oklahoma Baptist University.

With the completion of her schooling, the couple moved to Ft. Worth where Bill was in Seminary school. Following seminary, the couple moved back to Oklahoma where they served at many local churches. Silver Lake Church, Bartlesville; First Baptist Church, Skiatook; First Baptist Church, Prue and Victory Baptist Church. Sheila was the secretary at Prue Baptist Church for 32 years and was actively involved in teaching and other ministry in the church.

Sheila hobbies where skating, swimming, crafts, animals, sewing and secretarial job at the First Baptist church. She also loved taking vacation to Jackson Hole, Wyoming and Branson, Missouri, Christmas season was her delight. Sheila was dedicated to her church and her church family and she loved serving the Lord with all her Heart.

Survivors are her husband, Billy Lay of Prue, Oklahoma; one sister Debra Ross of Grand Junction, Colorado; and a host of other nieces and nephews. Sheila was preceded in death by her brother Greg Parker and her parents Raymond L. and Norma Parker.

Church services will be held Friday, August 11, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Prue, Oklahoma with Rev. Garry McDevitt officiating. Burial will follow in the Prairie View Cemetery, Prue Oklahoma under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made in Sheila’s name to the First Baptist Church in Prue, Oklahoma for the building fund. Friends may share a memory with the family at www.chapman-black.com.
