Sharyl Lynn East

Sharyl Lynn East, 58, passed from this life on August 14, 2019 at her home in Sapulpa, Oklahoma. Born August 18, 2019, in Yale, Oklahoma, Sharyl was the daughter of David Joe and Loretta Jean (Orcutt) Poulter. Sharyl grew up in Kingfisher. The family then moved to Jennings, where Sharyl graduated with the class of 1978. After graduation, Sharyl began working at Howard Johnson’s. On December 1, 1978, Sharyl wed Melvin Thomas East at the Terlton Baptist Church. The couple made their home between Terlton and Jennings. During Sharyl’s career as a cook, she worked at Hickory House, Lajuan’s Restaurant in Jennings, Poor Boy’s Restaurant and the Jiffy Trip.
After Tommy’s passing in 2010, Sharyl moved to the Tulsa area. Then she moved to the Sapulpa area, where Sharyl has been for the past 8 years. Sharyl enjoyed spending time with her grandkids and watching sci-fi movies while enjoying snacks. Being outdoors, and taking her dog to places, were just a few ways Sharyl enjoying passing the time. Sharyl liked to travel as well. Her family describes Sharyl as loving, kind, accepting, and someone who always gave the benefit of the doubt. She loved to spoil the kids, giving them candies and gifts.
Survivors include her children, Tanya Parson and her husband Nathan of Sapulpa, Oklahoma; Cory East of Tulsa, Oklahoma; siblings Mike Poulter of Jennings, Oklahoma, David Poulter of Jennings, Oklahoma; four grandchildren Allyson Phillips of Sapulpa, Oklahoma, Elizabeth Parson of Sapulpa, Oklahoma, Nathaniel Parson, Jr. of Sapulpa, Oklahoma, Cooper East of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Sharyl is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Melvin “Tommy” East and her brother Jerry D. Poulter.
Services for Sharyl will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, August 19, 2019, at the Chapman-Black Funeral Home Chapel in Cleveland, Oklahoma. Sharyl will be laid to rest next to her husband in the Jennings Cemetery in Jennings, Oklahoma. Services are in the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
