Sharon Mae Leaverton passed from this life on Saturday, October 4, 2014, at her home in Prue, Oklahoma, at the age of 67 years, nine months and twelve days. Sharon was born December 23, 1946, in Wathena, Kansas. She was the daughter of William and Shirley Mae Dailey Butrum. As a young girl Sharon grew up in St. Joseph, Missouri. She attended school in Savannah, Missouri where she later graduated. Following graduation Sharon worked at a local laundry mat and later worked at SammyÃs Drug Store in St. Joseph, Missouri. Sharon was united in marriage to George Clarence Leaverton in St. Joseph, Missouri on April 12, 1969. Following their marriage Sharon began working at the H&R Block Tax Service for several years. Sharon and George later moved to Faucet, Missouri and later to Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1983. In 1990, Sharon and George moved to their current home in Prue, Oklahoma. Sharon worked for over twelve years at Volunteers of America as a Habilitation Training Specialist before her retirement. Sharon enjoyed working puzzles, collecting bears and all different kinds of bells. HolidayÃs at her home were always special. Sharon always got the family together to dye Easter eggs, and decorate for Christmas. Sharon also enjoyed being able to cook and bake for the holiday occasions. Branson, Missouri was SharonÃs favorite family vacation spot. Survivors are her husband George Leaverton of the home, two children Mel Leaverton of Prue, Oklahoma, Troy Leaverton and his wife Theresa of Prue, Oklahoma; four siblings Clayton Butrum of St. Joseph, Missouri, Dana Butrum of St. Joseph, Missouri, Darren Butrum of King City, Missouri, Terry Butrum of Ohio; three grandchildren Makayla Love, Wyatt Love, Gabriella Love and a host of other relatives and friends that will mourn her passing. She was preceded in death by her father William Butrum, mother Shirley Neal, one brother Billy Ray Butrum and two infant children. Graveside services will be held 11:00 am Friday, October 10, 2014, at the Prue Cemetery with Pastor Robert Martino officiating. The family has requested that memorial contributions may be made in memory of Sharon to a charity of your choice that promotes diabetes awareness. Arrangements are under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home in Cleveland, Oklahoma.
