Funeral services Shannon Velton McCarty will be held Saturday, July 22, 2006, at 10:00 am in the Chapman-Black Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bill Lay officiating. Burial will follow at Osage Cemetery under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home, Inc.

Shannon was born July 25, 1970 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma to Leo, Jr. and Mary Ruth McCarty. Shannon was raised in the Osage and Prue, Oklahoma area. He attended and graduated from Prue High School with the Class of 1988. After high school Shannon enrolled at Northeastern State at Miami, Oklahoma. After he completed his education, Shannon gained employment in the accounting field. Through out his career Shannon worked at several different locations in Tulsa. Shannon also took on various different computer jobs for different people and companies.

Most of all Shannon loved being with his family and friends sharing stories and visiting. He also enjoyed working in his garden, growing flowers as well as caring for animals. Shannon also enjoyed fishing on Keystone Lake. Shannonís brothers and sister stated that he would play practical jokes frequently. Shannon also was known as a ìTrekeî. While Shannon was growing up he was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Prue.

Shannon passed away July 17, 2006 at his home in Osage, Oklahoma at the age of 35 years 11 months and 22 days. He was preceded in death by paternal grandparents and maternal grandfather.

Survived by his mother and step dad, Mary and Bill Combs of Osage, Oklahoma; dad and step mom, Leo and Nancy McCarty of Bluejacket, Oklahoma; three brothers, J.L. McCarty of Prue, Oklahoma; Oscar McCarty of Pawhuska, Oklahoma; Kyle McCarty of Osage, Oklahoma; one sister, Peggy Roach of Osage, Oklahoma; maternal grandmother, Vera Mae Horton of Prue, Oklahoma; his loyal companion dog Bear for many year as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
