Ruth Wilma Dunn, of Cleveland was born August 24, 1918 in St. Louis, Missouri to Irvin Louis and Wilhelmina F. (Fischer) Detmer. As a young child Ruth moved to Union, Missouri. She was raised and attended schools in Union and later graduated from high school. After Ruth graduated she accepted employment at the Carmo Shoe Factory where she worked until she was united in marriage to Willard Winston Dunn at Eminence, Missouri on April 30, 1938. After their marriage Ruth and Willard moved to many different places while Willard was employed with Shell Pipeline Corporation. Their last home was in Vinita, Oklahoma when Willard passed away. Shortly after his death Ruth moved to Tulsa and then in January of 2000 she moved to Cleveland making her home at the Baptist Village. Ruth was always active through out her life being associated with the following groups: WomenÃs Missionary Union, Leader of the Girls Auxiliary, AARP, Eastern Star, The North Vinita Homemakers as well as a member of the Western Heights Baptist Church. Ruth also loved to read, do all types of hand work including, quilting, beadwork, sewing and to embroidery. Ruth entered many of her crafts in the Craig County Fair winning many Blue Ribbons.
Ruth passed away October 29, 2002 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 84 years 2 months and 5 days. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Willard W. Dunn; brother, Charles Detmer and a sister, Mabel Detmer.
Surviving are her four children, Marilyn and husband Don Sheets of Jennings, Oklahoma; Willard and wife Anke Dunn of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Bonnie and husband Paul Trump of Kearney, Missouri; Stephen Wayne Dunn of Jennings, Oklahoma; eight grandchildren, Darren and Cindy Sheets, Craig and Leigh Ann Sheets, Josh Trump, Sarah Trump, Laura and Ben Braun, Travis Dunn, Devin and Rachel Dunn, Tristan Dunn, five great grandchildren, Michael Graves, Eric, A.J., Allyssa and Jana Sheets.
Services will be held Saturday November 2, 2002 at 2:00 pm in the Chapman-Black Chapel with services officiated by Rev. David Head. Burial will be at Bethany Cemetery in Hallett, Oklahoma under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home, Inc. of Cleveland, Oklahoma.
