Ruby Katherine Echols, 95, formerly of Osage, Oklahoma passed away on Sunday, April 5, 2009 in Owasso, Oklahoma.' Funeral services will be held for Ruby on Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at 11:00 am in the Chapman-Black Funeral Home Chapel with son-in-law, Dan Boutwell, officiating.' Burial will follow in the Osage Cemetery under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home of Cleveland, Oklahoma. Ruby was born in Marshall, Arkansas on January 9, 1914 the daughter of Andrew Green and Lula Jane (Reynolds) Kesner.' She started school in Marshall but at the age of seven Ruby moved with her parents in a covered wagon' to Prue, Oklahoma.' Several years later the family moved to Osage, Oklahoma where she completed her education.' In 1930, Ruby was united in marriage to Thomas Melton Echols. The couple established their initial home in Osage.' Due to the fact that Tom worked in the oil industry they moved numerous times.' Ruby and Tom have made their home in Arizona, Hominy, Oklahoma,' and Webb City.' In 1950, they moved to Lindsay, Oklahoma and then later to Wewoka and in 1968 they returned to Hominy. ' In the early 1980Ãs Ruby and Tom returned to Osage where they always considered home. Ruby enjoyed sewing, gardening, crocheting and cooking for her family.' She was also a firm believer in natural medicines and herbs.' Ruby always looked forward to the times with her family, especially the times during the holidays with many grandchildren at her home.' Mrs. Echols' was always ready' to go for a ride in the car sightseeing all her favorite places.' She enjoyed traveling and the times' visiting Arizona and the mountains of Colorado. Survivors include her son, Dale Echols of Hominy, Oklahoma; four daughters, Bernice Mitts of Skiatook, Oklahoma, Carol Kincaid of Skiatook, Oklahoma, Patricia Taylor of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma and Linda Boutwell of Burleson, Texas; eighteen grandchildren; forty-four great grandchildren; seventeen great-great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, Ruby was preceded in death by her husband Thomas Melton Echols; five brothers: Albert, Earl, Clarence, Shem and Floyd; as well as one sister, Velma and two great grandsons, Mickey Graves and Jessie Brandow.
