Funeral services for Ruby Johnson will be held Friday, July 2, 2004 at 3:00 pm in the Sanctuary of the First Baptist Church in Mannford with services officiated by Rev. James Beck. Burial will follow at Bethany Cemetery in Hallett, Oklahoma under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home, Inc of Cleveland, Oklahoma.
Ruby Ellen Johnson, a resident of Mannford was born November 2, 1917 in Seminole, Oklahoma to Robert and Vesta (Richardson) Perryman. As a young girl the family moved to Missouri where she was raised and received her education. On September 9, 1933 she was united in marriage to Chester Parent. They then made their home in Seminole for a short time and soon moved to Wichita, Kansas in the early 1940Ãs. Upon their arrival in Wichita; Ruby and Chester gained employment in the aviation industry. Shortly after World War II they moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico. They remained in Albuquerque until 1974. Ruby and Chester established their home in the Hallett Area upon their return from New Mexico.
On October 10, 1982 Ruby was united in marriage to Elmer Johnson in Hallett, Oklahoma and they made their home in Hallett until 1994. In 1994 Ruby and Elmer moved to their present home at BrianÃs Village in Mannford, Oklahoma.
Ruby loved arts and crafts, playing the piano and was always sending cards to her friends and family for different occasions. Ruby had a dream of returning to Albuquerque because she loved the area and the trout fishing that New Mexico provided. Ruby was also a member of the First Baptist Church in Mannford.
Ruby passed away Wednesday, June 30, 2004 at her home in Mannford, Oklahoma at the age of 86 years 7 months and 28 days. She was preceded in death by parents, husband Chester Parent in 1980 after 47 years of marriage, son Robert Lyndel, daughter Roberta Saylor as well as a great granddaughter Melinda Johnson.
Survived by her husband of 22 years, Elmer L. Johnson, of the home; children, Jean Watts of Glenpool, Oklahoma; Barbara and husband Foster Harness of Mannford, Oklahoma; ten grandchildren, Chuck and Linda Watts of North Carolina; Kathy Leon of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Annette and Steve Hale of Sand Springs, Oklahoma; Ronald and Linda Harness of Texas; Donald and Karen Harness of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Michael and Denise Harness of Mannford, Oklahoma; Kim and Les Evans of Mannford, Oklahoma; Joel Wayne and Shanna Harness of Mannford, Oklahoma; Shelly Harness of Mannford, Oklahoma; and Connie and Steve Shipley of Mannford, Oklahoma; 25 great grandchildren, nine great great grandchildren and her dog Pee Wee of the home as well as numerous other relatives and friends.
