Ruby E. Bright

Ruby Ella Womack Bright was born October 20, 1920 in Kingston, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of W. E. and Anna (Johnson) Womack. She moved with her family at an early age to Wynona, where she was raised and received her education.

Upon completion of her education, Ruby accepted employment in Pawhuska and soon met Noah Jack Bright. The couple was married on February 22, 1938 in Sedan, Kansas. They had three children, Sylven Marie, Gary Clifford and Bobbie Jack.

Ruby assisted Jack in several business he operated over their many years of marriage but her primary concern was taking care of her family. They were always in her thoughts and prayers. The couple made their home in Cleveland for many years. Ruby enjoyed being a homemaker, cooking for her family, planning holiday meals and spending time with her grandchildren. Ruby was also an avid Oklahoma University Sooner and St. Louis Cardinal fan.

Upon their retirement, Ruby and Jack spent countless hours on Oklahoma Lakes fishing and hunting arrow heads. They especially enjoyed relaxing and spending time together. Jack preceded her in death on December 15, 1989 after nearly fifty-two years of marriage.

For health reasons, Ruby moved to her son's home in Osage County, near Ralston this past year. She passed away there on Monday, August 29, 2005 at the age of eighty four years, ten months and nine days. In addition to her husband, Ruby was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Georgia Smith, Frankie Harrison and Lois Shropshire; and a brother, Clifford E. Womack.

Ruby is survived by her three children and their spouses, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Barnes of Skiatook, Oklahoma, Mr. and Mrs. Gary Bright of Enid, Oklahoma and Mr. and Mrs. Bobbie Bright of Ralston, Oklahoma; three nieces, Frankie Ann Womack, Kay Womack and Debora Womack; and one nephew, John Womack; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday, September 1. 2005 at the Woodland Cemetery Chapel in Cleveland with Rev. Ted Herold officiating. Burial will be under the direction of the Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
