Roy Edward Carter, 69, passed from this life on March 4, 2020 in Cleveland, Oklahoma. Born on October 29, 1950, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Roy is the son of Roy and Violet (Walters) Carter. He attended Cleveland Schools and graduated with the class of 1969. During high school, he played football and baseball. After graduation, Roy married Mary Jones and they had a daughter, Vicki Marie. The couple later divorced, and Roy remarried to Debbie Bowman. Following a divorce from Debbie, Roy later remarried to Sandy Rolen and the couple welcomed a son, Travis William Carter. They later divorced. Roy’s career included jobs in the steel industry as a welder in the construction industry and oilfield.
Roy’s hobbies and interests included reading and working on his Harley. He also enjoyed having projects to work through. His family describes Roy as a man who never met a stranger, he just enjoyed having someone to talk to.
Roy is survived by his mother Violet Virginia Carter; brother, John Wayne Carter and his children, Sheila, Deidra, and Chance; and brother, Robert Eugene Carter and his wife, Sara, and their children; Roman, Taylor, and Faith; a son, Travis William Carter; and numerous great-nephews, nieces, and cousins. Roy is preceded in death by his father, Roy William Carter, and his grandparents, John and Ethel Walters, as well as numerous aunts and uncles.
A visitation and prayer services will be held Monday, March 9, 2020, from 6:00pm till 8:00pm at the Chapman-Black Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, March 10, 2020 at 2:00pm at the Chapman-Black Funeral Home Chapel. Services are under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
