Roy Edward Boone

Roy Edward Boone passed from this life on February 2, 2019, at the age of 76 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Roy was born on April 19, 1942, in Prue, Oklahoma. He was the son of Roy L. and Gladys (Pierce), Boone. Roy attended school in Prue and later graduating from Osage High School. On July 2, 1962, Roy was united in marriage to Jania Flager in Poteau, Oklahoma. The couple made their home in Sand Springs, later moving to Tulsa. In 1982, Roy and Jania moved to the farm in Hallett. Roy worked as a welder thru the Plumbers and Pipefitters thru the Local 430. Roy worked mostly in the Tulsa area. He also worked on the Alaskan Pipeline as well as several nuclear plants. Roy was asked on several occasions to do judging at welding school. Following the death of Jania in 2010, Roy moved back to Sand Springs where he has continued to reside.

Roy was described as ornery stubborn and spirited. He enjoyed and loved his family and hot rods. Roy returned to Alaska for vacation and always talked about how beautiful it was. He constantly had projects going on while he was living on the farm. He enjoyed raising cattle, working in the garden and tending to his donkey’s. Roy also passed the time going to flea markets, hunting, fishing as well as being a grandpa. There was a weekly lunch at the Crescent Café, as well as a weekly breakfast in Prattville with his buddies. Roy always liked to discuss politics and always certain that his way was the right way. Up until he got sick, Roy read the Bible every morning and had read it front to back nearly 30 times during his life.

Survivors are his son, Barry Boone and his wife Bridget of Owasso, Oklahoma, one brother Clarence Willson of Tulsa, Oklahoma, four grandchildren Joseph Boone, Matthew Goodner, Justin Boone, Charlotte Boone and a host of other relatives and friends. Roy was preceded in death by his parents Roy and Gladys Boone, wife Jania Boone and a sister Virginia Smith.

Services will be held Friday at 3:00 pm, February 8, 2019, at the Chapman-Black Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be held privately in the Bethany Cemetery at Hallett, Oklahoma.
