Roy Dan ''Jack'' Comer

Funeral services for Jack Comer will be held 2:00 pm Wednesday, June 4, 2003 at the Chapman-Black Chapel services officiated by Rev. Harrel Jones of the Oak Hill Church on Keystone Lake. Burial will follow at the Woodland Cemetery under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home.

Roy Dan Comer better know as ìJackî was born December 22, 1914 in the Sinnett Community to William Joseph and Pearl Edith (Booth) Comer. The family moved to Wister, Oklahoma for a short period of time then made their home in Cleveland. Jack was raised and received his education graduating from the Cleveland High School. Jack enrolled at Nortons Welding School in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1942. Upon his completion of education Jack held several different jobs before entering the United States Army. Jack was a veteran of World War II serving in the battle of Rhineland. He received a European African Middle Eastern Service Medal. Jack was later discharged from the United States Army in October of 1945. Jack was united in marriage to Vinita (Bartley) at Cleveland, Oklahoma on June 2, 1943. When Jack returned from the United States Army he and Vinita made there home in Cleveland. In January of 1955 Jack moved to Farmington, New Mexico while working for Empire Drilling. Jack moved the family back to Cleveland in 1960. He gained employment helping build the Keystone Dam as well as clearing brush in the Valley area. In the late 1960ís Jack started to work as a pipe fitter. He belonged to the pipe fitters union in Tulsa and currently is with the Oklahoma City Pipe Fitters Union Local 344. In late 1978 Jack retired from pipe fitting.

After Jack retired he and Vinita loved to travel. They made many trips with family to Canada, Colorado, Alaska and many other states. Jack also loved to take his yearly trip deer hunting to Colorado with his family and friends. He also loved to take care of his garden and flowers. When Jack had time he also would weave scarves and shawls for his family and friends. Jack was a member of the Oak Hill Church on Keystone Lake.

Jack went to be with his Lord and Savior June 1, 2003 at his home in Cleveland at the age of 88 years 5 months and 9 days. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers Ed, Richard and William Bill, two sisters Lula Wilcoxson & Bessie Smith.

Survived by his loving wife, Vinita of the home; two children, Danny Comer and wife Mary of Mannford, Oklahoma; Marilyn Brown and husband Larry of Hominy, Oklahoma; three sisters, Lillie Ingalls of Cleveland, Oklahoma; Ruth and husband Bill Smith of Cleveland, Oklahoma and Bonita and husband Vernon Brown of Cleveland, Oklahoma; five grandchildren, Daniel and wife Santha Comer of Mannford, Oklahoma; Darrin Comer of Mannford, Oklahoma; Johnnie Brown of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina; Gary Brown of Hominy, Oklahoma and Marsha husband Jason Clark of Cleveland, Oklahoma; eight great grandchildren, Vance and Lani Landers, Demi Comer, Shawn & Alex Brown, Emily, J.R. and Baily Clark as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
