Roger Baran, of Cleveland was born July 7, 1916 in Chicago, Illinois to Nikita and Agripina (Moroz) Baran. As a young child Roger was raised and received his education in Chicago. Soon after his schooling Roger began working at General Electric in Chicago. He was employed with GE from 1937 till 1942 as an Assistant Supervisor. In 1942 Roger entered the United States Navy. During his time he served on the U.S.S. Anzio. For his duties while aboard the U.S.S. Anzio he received a Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon. Upon his return from the U.S. Navy Roger was employed with Meisterbrau. Roger retired in 1976 after over 30 years work as a Delivery Truck Driver in the Chicago Area. Roger was united in marriage to Lucille E. (Morema) at Chicago, Illinois in October of 1964.
After Roger retired in 1976 he and Lou moved to Bull Shoals, Arkansas for retirement. While living in Bull Shoals Roger had the opportunity to do what he had always loved to do he was only walking distance to the fishing. Roger and Lou bought a home on Bull Shoals Lake where he could go fishing when ever he wanted. Roger traveled to many different places including Canada fishing. While in Bull Shoals he was active in the VFW as well as a member of the Lutheran Church. In 1998 Roger and Lou moved to Cleveland to be closer to family.
Roger passed away October 27, 2003 in Mannford, Oklahoma at the age of 87 years 3 months and 20 days. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Alex and John as well as a sister Sophie.
Surviving is his loving wife, Lucille E. Baran of the home as well as many other relatives and friends.
Graveside services will be held October 29, 2003 at 11:00 am in the Woodland Cemetery with Rev. Natalie Ford officiating of the First Presbyterian Church in Cleveland. Burial will also be at Woodland Cemetery under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
