Funeral services for Jackie Heidebrecht a long time resident of Cleveland will be held Wednesday, April 12, 2006 at 2:00 pm at the First Baptist Church with Dr. Larry Wilson and Rev. Dan Edens officiating. Burial will be at the Woodland Cemetery under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home, Inc.
Roberta Jacqueline Heidebrecht was born December 4, 1927 in Cordova, Alabama to John Oscar and Stella (Dunn) Gilchrist. As a young girl Jackie grew up and graduated from Cordova High School. After she finished her education Jackie enrolled at Jacksonville Teachers College. Jackie worked for the local dry goods and the drug store. Her aunt soon convinced Jackie to move with her to Altus, Oklahoma.
While living in Altus, Jackie met the love of her life Ervin Heidebrecht. On January 10, 1948 Jackie was united in marriage to Ervin in Altus. They continued to make Altus their home until April of 1958 when they moved to Cleveland, Oklahoma. Jackie later accepted a position with Judge Decker as a typist for a short time, but most of her time was devoted to taking care of Ervin, Linda, Cecelia and Karen.
Jackie loved traveling taking many vacations which included camping. Some of JackieÃs most memorable trips were to California, Chicago and one that started in Toronto and ended at Atlantic City, New Jersey. She had many hobbies; they include sewing, embroidering and later in life she took up knitting. Jackie loved going to garage sales, painting as well as decorating ceramics. Jackie also spent countless hours gardening and canning what she and Ervin grew. Jackie loved attending church and was a member of the First Baptist Church. Jackie appreciated spending time visiting with people and most of all would help anybody with a need.
Jackie went to be with her Lord and Savior Sunday, April 9, 2006, in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 78 years 4 months and 5 days. She was preceded in death by her parents, five sisters, Elloise, Lillian, Maurine, Edna Pearl, and Evelyn; two brothers, John and Edmond.
Surviving are her husband of over 58 years Ervin of the home; three daughters, Linda Kathryn Fender of Cleveland, Oklahoma; Cecelia Ann Hunter and her husband Jim of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Karen Sue Gentry and her husband Robert of Ft. Smith, Arkansas; four grandchildren, Donica Leigh Webb and her husband Joey of Olathe, Kansas; Capt. Jeremiah Shi Gentry and his wife Jamy of Clovis, New Mexico; John Daniel Gentry and his fiancÈe Meagan Durham of Fayetteville, Arkansas; Lindsey Ann Hunter of Stillwater, Oklahoma; two great grandsons, Jermaine Bransford of Olathe, Kansas; Jameson Jay Gentry of Clovis, New Mexico as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will include Jim Alburty, Fred Vaughan, Gene Byers, Ron Wells, Joe Baker and Craig Ellis.
