Roberta Ennis of Cleveland, Oklahoma, passed from this life on Sunday, October 28, 2018, in Cleveland, Oklahoma.
Roberta was born September 6, 1933, in the Long Beach, California. She was the daughter of Charles F. and Flora M. (Clark) McCandless. As a young girl, Roberta grew up in Long Beach/Los Angles area. Following the completion of high school Roberta attended college in Washington as well as Oregon. She was later united in marriage to Jack Ogle who was the father of her four children. Roberta moved to several places including Alaska, Germany, and numerous other areas during the time Jack was in the military. In the early 1970’s Roberta was residing in Clovis, New Mexico and began working for a local travel agency. After several moves she made a home in the McAlester/Krebs area and worked at the AAA Travel Agency. In the early 1990s she was united in marriage to Terry Ray Ennis and the couple remained in the McAlester area until his passing. Roberta then moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma before settling in Cleveland, Oklahoma in 2012.
Roberta loved attending church on Sundays, sang in the choir, and enjoyed the music being played. She was a Sunday School teacher in Haileyville, Oklahoma and volunteered to read and help kids with their homework for a local after-school program. One of her favorite places to eat was at El Maguey in Sand Springs. Roberta fondly remembered the times she had growing up in Long Beach and Los Angeles. She was an avid reader - she especially loved the Bible and mystery stories. Her favorite author was Grace Livingston Hill. Roberta had a special place in her heart for animals. She always wanted to care for them and provide them a home.
Survivors are her two children Robbie Taheny and her husband Frank in Claremore, Oklahoma, Martin Ogle and his wife Orn of Cleveland, Oklahoma; sister Elizabeth Metcalf of McAlester, Oklahoma; grandchildren Amy Chacon, Kacie Marie Ogle, Jack Lee Ogle, great-grand children Devin Carter Chacon, Dylan Earl Chacon, Emily Sue Chacon, and Aeva Nicole Hornung. In addition to her parents, Roberta was preceded in death by her husband Terry; two sons James Ogle, and Jerry Ogle; siblings Frank and Margaret McCandless, and Ed, Arthur, and John Eggers.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Friday, November 2, 2018, at the First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Sandra Bach officiating. Burial will follow in the Woodland Cemetery in Cleveland, Oklahoma with services under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home in Cleveland, Oklahoma.
