Robert James Cooper passed away on Tuesday, June 30, 2009 in Sapulpa, Oklahoma at the age of 66. Robert was born September 14, 1942 in Blackburn, Oklahoma the son Robert Pete and Flora Leota (Bowen) Cooper. As a young man Robert grew up in Blackburn as well as Hallett. He attended school in Cleveland where he graduated high school with the Class of 1961. Soon after high school Robert . He was a graduate of Cleveland High School class of 1961. During his time in school Robert was very active in the Future Farmers of America; raising cattle and goats. Soon after graduation Robert was united in marriage to Patsy Ruth Cummings on July 3, 1961. Robert began working as a delivery man for Gold Spot Milk and later accepted employment with Flint Steel in Sand Springs. The couple established their initial home in Blackburn for over 14 years before moving to Cleveland. After a short time Robert and Patsy returned to Blackburn where they lived until the mid 1980ís. At that time they moved to their present home in Hallett. Robert worked for Flint Steel for over 20 years at his retirement in 1983. He then gained employment with Cleveland Public Schools as a custodian. Robert continued working until 2002 when he retired fully due to health reasons. Robert enjoyed working and building things with wood. He often made craft items and loved keeping his yard spectacular. Robert also enjoyed going to Branson and traveling to Albuquerque, New Mexico for vacations. However, Robert loved spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, family and friends. Survivors are his Patsy of the home, two children Tommy Cooper and his wife Becky of Luling, Texas, Tanya Tipling and her husband Bruce of Bentonville, Arkansas, one brother Kenneth Cooper and his wife Sharon of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, six grandchildren Bobbi Jo and her husband Matt, Tiffany Cooper and fiancee, Michael Collie, Stephanie, Cooper, Aubrey, Brianna, two great grandchildren Devin and Gaven; three brother in laws that he consider as a brothers Randy Cummings and his wife Laurie, Ron Cummings and wife Bobbie, Don Cummings, his companion Little Bit; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. Robert was preceded in death by his father Robert Cooper, mother Flora Cooper, a infant daughter and one sister Leota Sue McFarland. Church services will be held 2:00 pm Friday, July 3, 2009 in the Sanctuary of the Western Heights Baptist Church with Pastor Stephen Hundley officiating. Burial will follow at the Blackburn Cemetery under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home. Pallbearers will include John Dennis, Ryan Nichol, Larry Castleberry, Jerry Gray, Gary Cummings and Leonard McFarland
