Memorial services for Robert Glen Patterson, of Cleveland, Oklahoma will be held Friday, March 30, 2007 at 10:00 am in the Chapman-Black Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Willis Morgan officiating. The body will be cremated and later entombed in the Woodland Cemetery under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home, Inc. in Cleveland, Oklahoma.

Bob was born April 1, 1925 in Garnett, Kansas to Charlie (C. H.) and Minnie (Kriftewirth) Patterson. As a young child the family moved to Colorado. They returned to Garden City where Bob completed his education. On October 20, 1943, Bob joined the United States Navy. He trained at the US Naval Training Station in Farragut, Idaho. Bob served on the USS Auxiliary Repair Dock 18 as well as the USS General Omar Bundy. Bob was decorated with the Victory Medal, the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, the Philippine Liberation Campaign Ribbon and the Victory Medal. Bob was also a Champion Boxer for the U.S. Navy. Mr. Patterson received an honorable discharge from the U.S. Naval Personnel Separation Center in Norman, Oklahoma on May 15, 1946.

Bob returned to Garden City after the completion of his duty and was united in marriage to Glena P. Frank at her parentís home near Garden City on February 15, 1948. They established their initial home in Garden City, where Bob accepted employment with Century Refinery as a mechanic and machinist. Bob continued to work there until the closure of the plant in 1970. At that time Bob and Glena moved to Cleveland, Oklahoma where he gained employment at the Kerr McGee Refinery. In 1973, Bob accepted a position with Indian Electric Coop. In 1978, Bob retired and began working as an automobile mechanic out of his home.

Bob and Glena enjoyed traveling in their motor home throughout the United States. Mr. and Mrs. Patterson were always active going to places which include camping and water skiing as their children were growing up. Bob also loved fishing and gardening but most of all Mr. Patterson cherished the time spent with his family and friends.

Mr. Patterson passed away March 25, 2007, at his home in Cleveland, Oklahoma at the age of 81 years 11 months and 24 days. He was preceded in death by both parents; one son Terry Patterson; two sisters Vera Mae Bullock and Jeanne Eskelund.

Survived by his loving wife of over 59 years Glena of the home; one daughter, Diana and Alan Schoenenberger of Keensberg, Coloardo; one son Dennis and Denise Patterson of Sand Springs, Oklahoma; one grandson Sean Patterson of Tulsa, Oklahoma; one great-granddaughter Kirstan Patterson of Tulsa, Oklahoma; two brothers John Patterson of Garden City, Kansas; David Patterson of Woodward, Oklahoma; one sister Mary Patterson of Montrose, Colorado as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
