Robert (Bob) Elmer Orrell went to be with his Lord and Savior at the age of 89 on June 18, 2023 at Evergreen Nursing Center in Owasso, Oklahoma. Bob was born November 10, 1933 in Winfield, Kansas to Elmer Mumford Orrell and Nancy Fern (DeWitt) Orrell. He lived in Picher, Oklahoma as a child until high school. The family then moved to Commerce, Oklahoma. He graduated from Commerce High School in 1952, where he met his first wife, Mary Evelyn Snider. They married in 1952 and had two children.
Bob worked at B.F. Goodrich for 35 years and retired in 1986 when the plant closed. He then worked for Wiseda in Baxter Springs, Kansas. He and Mary divorced in 1988 and he relocated to Tulsa. He then married Peggy Barnes.
Bob was a longtime member of Northwest Baptist Church in Miami, Oklahoma and Westport Baptist Church in Westport, Oklahoma. He loved to sing in the choirs and was usually in a quartet. He had a beautiful bass voice.
Bob was always the “go to guy” when anyone needed to know how to fix a car, get something welded, or teach them how to figure out an issue with just about anything. His family always said, “First there was Bob, then along came Google”.
He was given the name “Bobba” by his first grandson and the name stuck. Just about anyone who was close to him called him Bobba.
Bob was predeceased by his parents, Elmer and Fern, his sister, Carol, a niece, Pam Shroyer, and his wife, Peggy. He is survived by a daughter, Debbie Manion and her husband, Scott of Owasso, Oklahoma, a son, Robert Scott Orrell and his wife, LeeAnn, of Stillwater, Oklahoma, 2 grandchildren, Jeff Manion and his wife, Dana of Edmond, Oklahoma, Angie Sayre and her husband, Grady of Owasso, Oklahoma, 3 great grandchildren, Brady Goggans of Owasso, Cade Manion of Edmond, and Kory Goggans of Owasso.
There will be no public service, only a private family graveside. The family requests no flowers instead donations to Seasons Hospice in Tulsa or his favorite charity, St. Jude’s would be appreciated.
