Robert Doyle Thompson

Robert Doyle Thompson passed from this life on October 1, 2022, at the age of 87.

Doyle was born on April 15, 1935, in Boston Pool, Oklahoma, the son of Robert and Ida Mae (Adams) Thompson. Doyle grew up and attended school in Boston Pool; later, in 1949, the family moved to Cleveland, where he began high school and graduated with the Class of 1953. In the early 1960s, Doyle moved to Claremore, where he worked at Warehouse Market. In 1966, Doyle returned to Cleveland to Cooks Grocery, later accepting a position with Safeway. On July 9, 1982, Doyle was united in marriage to Geneva Lee Dildine at Westport Baptist Church in Cleveland. In the mid-1980s, Doyle and Geneva opened a convenience store at Appalachia Bay. They later opened Doyle's Jiffy Stop on Caddo. They operated the store until 2000, when they sold the operation. Doyle then began working at Cleveland Public in the maintenance department and also drove a school bus. After retiring from Cleveland Schools, Doyle started carrying bundled mail at LEPAK for the U.S. Postal Service, retiring in 2021.

Doyle enjoyed going to the casino, working in his yard, and helping others with theirs. Doyle always liked traveling to watch the grandkid's sporting activities. Doyle ran numerous marathons and participated in the Tulsa Run every year. The family would go snow skiing yearly in Colorado and always loved playing golf. Going to El Chico or the Golden Corral were some of his favorite places to eat, and family breakfast at the Hickory House.

Survivors include his wife Geneva of the home, four children, Kim Strate, Kelly Danner and her husband Tim, Greg Billen and wife Suzanne, Kandi Sinclair and Ralph Casteel; one brother Charles Thompson; grandchildren Tim Bolt and wife Janell, Patrick Danner and wife Jillian, Heather Hodshire and husband B.J., Matthew Danner and wife McKalyn, Maggie Gwinn and husband Dillon, Brittney Sparks and husband Nick, Kamryn Andrews and Beau Ballard, Chelsea Caughlin and husband Aaron, Samuel Sinclair; sixteen great grandchildren and one on the way as well as a host of other relatives and friends. Doyle was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Ida Mae Thompson, and a granddaughter Hannah Thompson.

Family and friends are invited to a come and go as you reception 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm Saturday October 8th, 2022 @ Charles Thompson's Home in Cleveland, Oklahoma, 706 Hickory Drive Cleveland, Oklahoma 74020.

Memorial services will be held at 1:00 pm, Monday, October 10, 2022, at the A.J. Powell Memorial Cemetery in Hominy, Oklahoma, with Pastor Carl Brown officiating.
