Robert Cooper passed from this life on September 10, 2023, at the age of 85 in Cleveland, Oklahoma.
Robert was born on November 9, 1937, in Monticello, Kentucky, the son of Odell and Bascal (Watson) Cooper. Robert grew up in the Slick Ford area of Monticello, Kentucky. Robert gained employment in the stone quarries in Monticello before moving to Shelbyville, Indiana. Was unite in marriage to Clora Watson on July17, 1957, establishing their home in Shelbyville. Began working at a local farm. In the early 1970's, Robert gained employment at the local John Deere dealership as a mechanic. In 1980, Robert returned to Monticello and began working Gene Wright John Deer residing there until December of 1992 when he moved to Cleveland, Oklahoma where he has continued to reside.
Robert enjoyed being outdoors, tinkering with projects and working outside. His favorite music was country and bluegrass. Robert was a very humorous and happy person that was a very unique, honest, incorruptible and simpleman.
Survivors are his two sons Daryl Cooper and wife Lila of Cleveland, Oklahoma, Gary Cooper and wife Melissa of Shelbyville, Indiana; sister Flanie Jean Cooper of Monticello, Kentucky; eight grandchildren Kristi, Dustin, Holly, Daryl II, Dalton, Emily, Sarah, eleven great grandchildren Jaden, Keith, Harly, Gary Lee, Logan, Austin, Summer, Alexis, Sabriel, Sienna, Juniper; two great-great grandchildren Genesis and Hunter. In addition to his parents Robert was preceded in death by his five siblings Irene Cooper, Marie Cooper-Slagel, John Cooper, Bonnie Cooper and Ollie Cooper, one grandson Gary.
Graveside Service will be held 11:00 am Thursday, September 14, 2023 @ Woodland Cemetery Chapel with Pastor David Head officiating. Burial will be held in the Woodland Cemetery under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home will be handling the arrangements.
