Richard Roberts

Richard Edward Roberts passed away on April 2, 2025, at the age of 90, in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Richard was born on November 25, 1934, in Taylorsville, Indiana. He was the son of Christopher and Hazel Rachel (Hartwell) Roberts. Richard grew up and attended school in Taylorsville, where he completed his education. On June 18, 1965, Richard was united in marriage to Constance Raye Russell in Hope, Indiana and shortly after started working as a machinist. There are three children in that union: Lisa, Christopher, and Diana. Lisa and Chris were born in Indiana and then moved to Cincinnati Ohio in 1967. Richard then had Diana and then moved to La Habra California in 1968 where he worked as a machinist at Havoc Industries. In August of 1975, Richard and family moved to Terlton, Oklahoma, and continued working as a machinist. Richard then retired and began working as a handyman.
Later in life, Richard moved to Mena, Arkansas, where he and Jean resided until June of 2023 until they moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma. Richard enjoyed playing the guitar and singing. He played for many years at the Terlton Senior Citizens. Richard loved playing jokes on people and was an all-around jokester. Going to concerts was also memorable for him. Richard had a large collection of clocks and records. Survivors are his lifelong partner Jean Elifrits of the home; three children, Lisa Mathews and husband Terry of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Christopher Roberts and wife Shawna of Terlton, Oklahoma, Diana Deramo of Cleveland, Oklahoma; eleven grandchildren, two great grandchildren; two step-children Dwayne Elifrits and his wife Marlene of Sand Springs, Oklahoma and his two children, Pat Dill and husband Stephen of Sapulpa, Oklahoma and their son; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Christopher and Hazel Roberts, siblings Lee Roberts, Phillip Roberts, Donald Roberts, Deloris "Faye" Abel, Martha D. Brand, and an infant brother and sister. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Chapman-Black Funeral Home Chapel, with David Logsdon officiating. Burial will follow in the Terlton Cemetery. Chapman-Black Funeral Home will handle the arrangements.
