Richard R. Johnny Long, longtime Cleveland resident, passed away Wednesday, March 31, 2004 at the Cleveland Area Hospital at the age of seventy-four years and five days.
Johnny was born March 26, 1930 in Texas. He moved with his family at an early age to Cypress, California where he was raised by his parents Robert and Beulah Long. Johnny attended Excelsior High School in Norwalk, California.
Upon completion of his education, Johnny was married to Loretta Miller in 1950. The couple had two children Richard David and Vickie Lee prior to their divorce. He remained in California and worked in the field of demolition and then owned and operated his own trucking company for many years. Johnny was married to Willie Holland in 1956. The couple later moved to Cleveland, Oklahoma where they raised their daughter Tonya and each others stepchildren.
Throughout the years, Johnny was active in many of ClevelandÃs Businesses and events. He owned and operated JRÃs Nut House and a U Haul Equipment Rental. He also participated in many other activities in support of the town Cleveland.
He is survived by three children, Richard, Vickie and Tonya; eight grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Virginia and Toni.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, April 12, 2004 at the Woodland Cemetery Chapel in Cleveland with Rev. Dan Edens officiating. Burial will be under the direction of the Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
